Our 11th annual Pink Day fundraiser for NBCF & CanAssist is brightening up our campus today, Friday, November 26.
The idea of Pink Day was born 11 years ago with a simple conversation in the Year 9 Community class at the time. The students were keen to make a difference and help others and so the legacy of the YHS Pink Day began.
That first year we raised around $1100 for the NBCF. The day has grown bigger and better with each year with us raising $13000 in the last two years alone.
All up our school community have raised over $25000 for NBCF and the local CanAssist.
We would not have been able to do this without the wonderful support of the local businesses who so generously donate prizes for our day.
The generosity of the Yass High School Community, as well as Berinba and Yass Public who now have their own ‘Pink Days’ to help support our cause, have made Pink day everyone’s favourite day of the year.
It is a day we all come together to spread awareness and raise money for people who are affected by cancer both nationwide and in our local area.
All proceeds generated on the day go to the NBCF and Yass CanAssist, where they will be used for things, such as aiding local cancer patients with transport, treatment, and support, as well as the development of an ever so desperate cure.
Again, this year we would like to send out a massive thank you to all the local businesses in Yass who have donated prizes for the day, and a thank you to everyone who chooses to donate on the day.
Whether it be a dollar, or twenty, even the slightest donation can make someone’s life a little bit better.
Finally, Pink Day would not be possible without all the wonderful Community students who work tirelessly behind the scenes both on the day as well as before and afterwards.
Their selfless acts of kindness to make the day so successful can never be repaid and they can take much pride in knowing they are making a positive difference in the lives of others without them ever being able to repay them.
