During the festive season the Yass Community Markets are a local hotspot for Christmas shopping and provide plenty of stocking stuffers.
There’s a wonderful selection of Christmas themed goods including candles, cards, timber ornaments, and macrame decorations.
If you’re searching for delicious goods to grace your Christmas table there are also plenty of festive foods and wines such as local cherries and strawberries, mince pies, cakes, puddings, berry pastries, freshly baked bread, mulled wines and more.
Wagga Wagga resident Leanne Smith travels from market to market during the festive season selling her handmade Christmas wreaths.
All the wreaths are made from natural products and hand-wrapped with native Australian flowers and plants.
The wreaths have a long shelf life and will last through Christmas and artistic-minded people can even use the base to add their own leaves and flowers for next Christmas. Leanne said she hopes to begin hosting wreath-making workshops in the Yass Valley shortly.
Ali Scanes had a variety of Macrame products – a form of textile created using knotting techniques – available at her stall, ‘All About Macrame’. Aided by her daughter, Steph Scanes, Ali sells her creations through Instagram (@macrame_Ali) and out the front of Full Circle Serenity.
Yass born and bred, Ali began knotting macrame decorations, hanging potholders, rainbows, and keychains while recovering from a knee reconstruction. Although Ali takes custom orders, she also has a variety of unique Christmas tree decorations available.
Sayerah Deasey has a dozen years of experience under her belt and a card for every occasion whether it be birthdays, graduations, get well soon, congratulations, or Christmas.

L&J Inspired Designs were at their first Yass Community Market last weekend with Jade and Valen manning the stall and sell- ing hampers with a variety of products in a collaboration with over 20 small Australian businesses.
A great gift for friend or colleague the hampers have tea, alcohol, chocolates, soap, jewellery, and many other knick-knacks.
Jade Rayner of JR Creations expanded her candle-making hobby into a business with delightfully smelling wood wick candles and melts available.

The next Community Markets are Saturday December 18 from 9am to 1pm at the Yass Soldiers’ Memorial Hall.
