Christmas light comp winners

The Yass Christmas Light Up competition winners have been announced. The competition was reportedly very tight with one judge’s five-year-old suggesting that all entries should score a 10 each.

The purpose of the competition was to create ‘magic’ for the community and the response of this child certainly attests to the success of that purpose.

The number of lit-up properties increased this year, it was such a great effort by everyone throughout both communities.

Winning entries (in no particular order) are:

Yass:

  • 143 Meehan Street
  • 69 Brennan Street
  • 40 Grampian Street
  • 53 Merriman Drive
  • 2 Red Gum Drive
  • 27 Victoria Street
  • 11 Walker Place
  • The Roundhouse, Yass Showground

“All entrants are winners in our eyes,” said GE Site Manager Mark Pressland from Bango Wind Farm. “Great displays by everyone”.

“There are a lot of great displays throughout the community,” he said. “You will be amazed by the ‘magic’ everyone has helped to create for us all.”

The Christmas Light Up competition covered Yass, Boorowa and surrounds, with entries judged on:

  • Presentation, general appearance layout and design
  • Light – use of colour, form and composition, variety and repetition
  • Creativity, innovation and passion
  • Reflection of the spirit of Christmas
