The Yass Magpies Rugby League Club is celebrating a phenomenal haul of regional accolades, with four star players named to their respective Canberra Region Rugby League (CRRL) Teams of the Year.
The recognition spans both the men’s and women’s competitions, highlighting the depth of talent emerging from the Magpies’ ranks this season.
Leading the charge are Katrina Fanning Shield (KFS) representatives Kaitlyn Andrews, Hayley Liddle, and Roxy Horne, alongside Canberra Raiders Cup (CRC) standout Cooper O’Connor.
The Yass Magpies’ KFS side saw three exceptional players earn spots in the prestigious lineup of the women’s competition. Kaitlyn Andrews secured a starting position in the Second Row. Andrews was a consistent force in the Magpies’ engine room throughout the year, combining aggressive defence with powerful running metres to give her side crucial momentum. Her selection is a testament to her work rate and high-impact plays across the 80 minutes.
Joining her from the KFS side is Hayley Liddle, who was named to the Interchange bench. Liddle, playing primarily as a Prop/Middle Forward, was rewarded for her versatility and relentless effort as one of the competition’s most impactful rotational players.
Rounding out the KFS honours is Roxy Horne, who earned a place on the Wing. Horne’s selection highlights her high-level performance in the backline throughout the season.
In the men’s Canberra Raiders Cup, Cooper O’Connor earned his spot on the Interchange bench in the Team of the Year. O’Connor was the definition of versatility for the Magpies’ first-grade side. His ability to seamlessly cover Winger, Centre, and Fullback made him an invaluable asset to the team, demonstrating the high football IQ and athletic adaptability that made him the perfect utility player for the CRC Team of the Year bench.
The selection of Andrews, Liddle, Horne, and O’Connor highlights the Yass Magpies’ commitment to developing top-tier rugby league talent in the Canberra region.
