Landmark Tournament set to bring global talent to NSW Southern Tablelands, showcasing sand greens golf on the world stage.
The Women’s World Sand Greens Championship will be held from March 27th to 29th, 2025 at the picturesque Binalong Golf Club in the NSW Southern Tablelands.
With a substantial increase in prize money to $175,000 and official Rolex World Ranking Status, the event promises to attract top-tier international talent.
Proudly supported by Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, the 54-hole championship will also elevate the profile of regional New South Wales and sand greens golf to a broader audience.

Olivia Wilson, General Manager of Golf at Golf NSW, said the success of the inaugural sand greens championship had attracted considerable interest, fuelling the extension of the tournament from 36 to 54 holes and an increase in prizemoney on offer.
“The success of our inaugural sand greens championship was a turning point and drew interest from professional players globally.
“Players from Europe and beyond have shown a lot of interest in next year’s championship, which speaks to the unique appeal of sand greens and the strength of the international field we expect to see compete.”

Ms Wilson added that the tournament being granted official Rolex World Ranking Status had given it extra lustre.
“This recognition by the Rolex Ranking board required us to extend the format to 54 holes. It is a change that raises the stakes for us, and aligns the event to a status similar to many other tournaments on international tours.
“Expanding the tournament and increasing the prize purse was an easy decision, and we expect the quality of the field will reflect this new status.”

Binalong Golf Club, situated in the picturesque Southern Tablelands, was chosen as next year’s venue due to its immaculate condition and accessibility for international competitors.
After successfully hosting the Men’s World Sand Greens Championship in September 2024, Binalong has established itself as a welcoming and vibrant community for elite golf.
“The competitors will find not only a challenging and well-maintained course but also a supportive community that will embrace the event.

“The enthusiasm shown by Binalong’s residents last year was remarkable, and I’m confident they’ll extend the same hospitality to the players in March,” Ms Wilson added.
The 2025 Women’s World Sand Greens Championship is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
Binalong Community Club President Michael Brayshaw is excited, as is the entire region about the Ladies World Sand Green Championships which commenced yesterday at Binalong, and will run through to Saturday.
He said, “Wednesday we have close to 100 that will play in the Pro Am with tee off at 8.30am.”
“Following that will be the $500 Cafe on Queen shootout on the 18th.”

“Wednesday night will be our standard Super Draw which is about $12,600 or thereabouts for members.”
“The tournament proper hits off on Thursday at 9am with 57 professionals playing, including Lydia Hall who is the defending champion from last year.”
“Saturday is the same tee time but with a Pink Day and telecast by Kayo.”
“All days are 18 holes. The winner out of those three days wins the event and the final day (Saturday) is televised.”

Brayshaw gave thanks to the NSW Government and Destinations NSW for the initiative of backing it and “enabling tournaments like this to come to small communities like ours. It is a big windfall and the Club is very grateful for it. Thank you to Golf NSW for entrusting us with not only last year’s Men’s event, but the Women’s this year and the men’s for the next two years.”
“Thanks also to all the on-course sponsors, Bulgers Constructions and Murrumbateman Tavern and all our other volunteers. We don’t get this stuff done without the volunteers. We’ve had a lot out of the Yass Golf Club who have put their hands up to come and help and it really makes a difference.”

“We are happy with the course considering we haven’t had much rain and it looks as good as it can without not having the rain that we would have liked to have had. Dennis Williams and Wayne Dawe have done a cracking job in prepping it up and setting it up.”
“The course is going to be in complete contrast to where they have been playing golf for the last two weeks. They’ve been in the cyclones and coming this is like a bit of a dust bowl.
“Those wanting to watch, just turn up and follow all the signs. Parking is below the clubhouse. There’s plenty of food and hospitality on show.
