The Yass Roos continue in their winning way, bouncing into the finals, accounting for Goulburn with a score of 98-6.
Goulburn gave it their best shot with a goal, however the Roos’ defence was far too strong and their attack was on song.
Goulburn are sitting at the bottom of the ladder and won’t be in finals contention, however the hit-out was a good opportunity for the Roos to focus on their gameplan leading in to the final series, where they will face much stiffer competition.
Co-coach Yass Roos, Steve May says it was a good win to take home at their final home and away game.
“Goulburn have had a tough year, they’re still at the bottom of the ladder,” he says.
“They’ve won a game, so we weren’t expecting to have too many troubles. But we do have a pretty good rivalry with Goulburn, so we were expecting them to fire up and they did. They had a crack.
“But our boys just rolled up their sleeves and got the job done.”
Despite being undermanned with only two on the bench for the entire match, Steve says they managed well and are now looking towards their finals campaign.
With one more round left of the competition before finals, the Roos will have to sit and wait with a bye this week, which Steve says is a small blessing in disguise.
“We’ve got a couple of players with a few niggles, so we’ll rest up before we crack into the finals,” he says.
Currently, the Roos are locked into third spot with ADFA on top and ANU in second place.
Even though they’ve got a bye this weekend, there is no rest for the wicked, with the team training twice on Tuesday night and Thursday night, with more training sessions the following week.
One thing’s for sure, the boys are looking good in the leadup to the finals, they just need to be sure to keep their heads on their shoulders.
