The Yass Rams were on the wrong side of a close game again this week against the Crookwell Dogs, going down 26-20 in Crookwell.
The Rams were unable to cling onto their lead, conceding a late try and with it the victory. Rams coach Bronson Sainsbury thought it was similar mistakes to last week that were the Rams un-doing.
“It was evenly matched throughout the game. Both teams started pretty strong. It was a bit of an arm wrestle. We were up by a point with about five minutes to go and just let them in for a late try. It was pretty back and forth and tight most of the way through it,” Bronson said.
“We just a couple of things need to click. The forwards are going well, a couple of issues in the back, just decision-making andthe options that they take sometimes. We’re not far off, it’s looking promising. We haven’t lost by much and have been pretty competitive every week.
“The forwards put in a really good showing, Harrison Locke, Sam Allen, Corey Nicholson and Ben Downey, those guys all stood out pretty well.
“The scrums functioned well, but we struggled at the line out at times bit and that hurt our chances as well.”
Bronson believes if he can get his side playing as one, they can start collecting wins.
“Our line-outs are an area that we need to work on a bit. The week before it was just cohesion a little bit, just a lot of dropped ball and discipline. They were the main issues there,” he continued.
“We’ve got another tough one to come back, we have another away game at Cooma. It’s not going to get any easier, it’s going to be a tough game for us.
“We just need to put in some really hard work at training over the next two weeks and prepare for that one.
“We’ve got a really good team culture the boys are all pretty close together there but once we get a couple of wins under our belt, I think things will fall into place.It’s just getting those final pieces of the puzzle to fit in.”
Cooma will be looking to make it 2/2 against Yass, having won their previous game against Jindabyne 47-15.
