The Murrumbateman Eagles were not disgraced in Saturday’s Grand Final against their country cousins the Coota Blues in what was a close and hard fought match.

The Eagles played the full 80 minutes and it was a highly entertaining match by two teams, desperate to claim the title in 2026. The final score, Cootamundra 8-5-53, Murrumbateman 6-10-46.
The Eagles, Kevin Mangan praised Coota’s grit after the game in his speech.
“Well done Cootamundra. You were the better team on the day, even with two fellas with one or two hamstrings between them, I think.
He went on to say, “They were the better team, we just didn’t adjust, and we’ll come back, bigger, stronger next year. Mark my words. So, thanks to the umpires, AFL Canberra, Canberra Times.”
