Better Showing For Rams In ADFA Rematch, But Still Fall Short

The Yass Rams had a rematch against ADFA Lions on Saturday at Yass after a devastating loss on ANZAC Day, playing a much better game, even if they still copped a 46 – 37 loss.

Bronson Sainsbury of the Yass Rams said, “We played them on Anzac Day as well, and they gave us a bit of a touch-up. This was a much better result.

“The team played a lot better than they have in recent weeks, so that was good.

“A little bit disappointing, though, that we had the chances there to win the game at times and just didn’t quite take them. It was a little bit disappointing, but not a terrible result.

“The team is starting to gel a lot better, and we had a few guys back from injury, particularly from the back line, so that really helped things.

“Things are on the up a little bit after the last few weeks.

“We are playing Cooma in Yass this week, so that will be a pretty big game. We play them for a trophy called the Gordon Litchfield Boot. It is a perpetual trophy which we have won one against them, and we have lost one to them. If we win, we will have the boot back.

“We are looking forward to a big game against Cooma.”

The match was also special since it meant 200 Games for Brendan Cooke.

A huge achievement and a reflection of the commitment he’s shown to the club over many years.

The Rams thanked Cookie for everything he’s contributed both on and off the field.

“There aren’t many people in the club’s history who have played that many games. It’s a pretty impressive achievement,” said Bronson.

The Ewes unfortunately, saw a 39 – nil loss to the Braidwood Redbacks.

The Rams and Ewes take on Cooma Red Devils at Victoria Park on Saturday.
