Yass SPIN Foundation will be at Bowning Hill for their Bowning walk on Sunday, 14th September from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
There will be live music, a BBQ and refreshments on the hill, along with kids’ interactive activities during the walk.
President of the SPIN Foundation, Carly Scanes, said, “We have the hill walk as one of our major fundraisers for the year, so it allows the public to climb up Bowning Hill and see the views of the area. It’s actually a really good view up there. It’s a nice walk. It’s a good day out, and it just allows everyone to go out and see one of our famous landmarks.”
On Sunday, there was a working bee at Bowning Hill clearing debris from the road in preparation for the event. “I wasn’t a part of that, unfortunately, but my team was. They went out and just cleared the track so that it made it a little bit safer for people to walk up, even though it is a track that can be driven on, because they do need access to get up to the top of the hill to maintain the facilities up there.
“We just did a working bee to make sure that everything is ready to go and a bit safer for everyone. The team did really well, got it done nicely and quickly, and it was a lovely day out there for them to get it done.
“Our team is amazing. Our volunteers give up so much of their personal time to come and help us do these fundraisers, and look, it’s something that the team is amazing. It’s a great atmosphere. More people should come and join us, and we’re always looking for volunteers. We have lots of fun, we have lots of laughs, and we get to provide help to our community. I think that everyone should want to do that because they might at one point in time need some help from us.
“It’s a great team and I’m very thankful for all of our volunteers who help us get what we get done for our community. It’s a massive help.”
Although the SPIN Foundation do have plenty of enthusiastic volunteers, they are looking for more people to get involved. “They can contact us on our Facebook page and just send us a message on there and let us know that they’re interested in helping us out, and then we can contact them and get the ball rolling.
“This is one of our major events, and there will be a donation at the gate. There will be people taking photos, and there’s a barbecue up the top, some refreshments, kids’ interactive activities and some music on the day. Definitely come out and have a look at that one, and just join the Facebook page. That’s where we advertise all of our events.
“I just wanted to thank everyone from the community for keeping the support up for our Foundation. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our beautiful community. We want to send a massive big thanks to everyone and keep doing what they’re doing.”
