The 2021 Show will be a one-day-only event on March 20 and held at the Yass Showgrounds.
This will be the 148th Yass Show, making it the oldest community event in Yass.
With the show only a few weeks away, President of the Yass Show Society Anne Hazell said work to get the show ready was very much underway.
“We are full steam ahead,” she said proudly.
Organisers endeavoured to maintain as many of the familiar elements of the show as possible. Still, with limitations and number restrictions on certain areas due to Covid-19, some events weren’t financially or sensibly viable.
“Most of the pavilion exhibits and classes are going ahead.”
‘Unfortunately, we can’t have every class, and I understand people may be a bit disappointed, but it’s better to have a show than no show at all,” said Hazell.
Hazell understands some of the fear that exists within the community surrounding Covid-19 and bringing in outsiders to Yass but wants to reiterate the safety measures being taken by organisers.
“A small band of dedicated volunteers are working very hard to put on a show in Covid-19 times and to make it safe, and we are taking every precaution,” she said.
The volunteers are currently working tirelessly to get the show together, and organisers encourage anyone who could be of service to step forward.
“We are always interested in new volunteers coming on board,” Hazell said.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online. The event will run from 8 am-7 pm, so there’s hopefully a window of opportunity for many locals to attend and support the Yass Show.
“Come enjoy your local show and have a bit of a day out,” said Hazell hopefully.
