The NSW Department of Education has advised it will have workers on-site in Murrumbateman this week conducting borehole testing and erecting fences as part of the preliminary works on land for the proposed Murrumbateman Primary School.
An update on the project states:
‘From Tuesday 4 May to Friday 7 May, our crews will be conducting borehole testing on the site planned for the new primary school in Murrumbateman. We will use a truck-mounted drill rig to make these boreholes, which is roughly as loud as a commercial lawnmower. An excavator will also be used onsite, and will not traverse any public land. The excavator will be operated by a qualified contractor and will be accompanied by a safety officer.Test areas will be cordoned off during drilling to ensure the safety of the community.’
A project is underway to deliver a new primary school for the Murrumbateman community. The school will include flexible learning spaces, a library, hall, canteen, special program unit, covered outdoor learning area and Administration and Staff facilities. These new facilities will cater for up to 370 students with construction completion expected in early 2023.
The works will also include erecting temporary fencing around the site which will remain in place for the duration of the project, and
there will be no further public access to the school car park located on Fairley Street.
‘Over the coming months, our project team and contractors, such as architects and engineers, will be
conducting a range of investigations at the new school site as part of their early construction planning.’
Hours of construction
Standard project working hours are 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 1:00pm Saturday. No work will take place on Sundays or public holidays.
