Dust off your boots and grab your hats – the Yass River Co. Rodeo is charging into Yass Showgrounds this Saturday, November 22, 2025!
It’s the event everyone’s been waiting for: a full-throttle, heart-pounding day of rodeo action that’s bigger, bolder, and ready to deliver non-stop thrills.
Hosted by the Yass Region Rodeo Association, this is the second year under the new committee for their massive full-program rodeo – and after last year’s sell-out success, expectations are sky-high.
As President Ben Boyton says, “We’re expecting another huge turnout with around 485 competitors hitting the arena, just like last year. It’s going to be an epic day of rodeo!”
Perfectly slotted into the national circuit (coming hot off Cootamundra and Bungendore, with Gundagai up next and the finals in Scone), this rodeo pulls top talent from across the country – and beyond. Expect elite stock from the best contractors, former Australian champions, and riders who’ve taken on the toughest arenas in America. Bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc, barrel racing, rope and tie – every event is on, and the calibre is world-class. But it’s not all about the pros. The junior events are always crowd favourites, with young guns giving it everything and the spectators going wild.
“The kids steal the show every time – the energy is unreal,” Ben adds. There’s fun for the whole family too: amusement rides to keep the little (and big) kids screaming with joy, live music pumping all day, a stacked lineup of food vendors, and Western wear stalls – all clustered in one easy-to-navigate central hub this year. It’s a licensed event (cheers to the Yass Bowling Club running the bars, including a sponsors’ bar), no camping, no dogs, and no BYO – just pure good times.
Kick the weekend off right with the pre-rodeo party at the Yass Bowling Club on Friday night – live music, raffles, and the perfect warm-up for the thousands of competitor families already rolling into town.
Community runs deep here. As a not-for-profit, every ticket helps – with proceeds going to the 42Casts Charity (they’re volunteering on the day too), plus barbecues run by Freemasons and veterans/first responders groups.
Over 90% of sponsors are local legends, led by naming-rights partner Yass River Co. – massive thanks to Petteri Rummukainen and the whole team for making it happen.
