Op-shoppers ready to go again as Salvo’s Yass reopens

Op-Shoppers and thrifters of Yass will be pleased to hear that the Yass Salvation Army ‘Salvos’ store has reopened after its upgrade, opening its doors to the delight of many on June 29th.

Located at the same premises, the store is at 92a Meehan Street, open from 9:00am to 5:30pm on weekdays.  Salvos Stores are pleased to announce the opening of their new upgraded store in Yass.

Having been closed since the 29th of April, the store was conducting renovations as part of its transition from The Salvation Army Family Store to the Yass Salvos Store, having now become part of the wider Salvos franchise, providing more backing and a better network. During this closing time, remodelling was being conducted to better fit the larger stock amount.

Upgraded and welcoming customers again – Salvos Store Yass

“We were transitioning into a Salvos store. Beforehand we were a family store”, said Dianne Sewell, Manager of the Yass Salvos store.

Despite the larger volume of goods, Yass Salvos will continue to carry a similar range of second-hand items as before, stocking a range of second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, homewares, books, DVDs, and hobby items. The same stands for the Yass Salvos volunteers and workers, who will continue in their roles during this transition and were present for the reopening.

Turnout during the morning of reopening was ‘Fantastic’, said Dianne, with families, children, and elderly present.

The Salvos released a statement stating, “We are incredibly excited to be opening a Salvos Store in Yass this June. This store will be a welcome addition to the local community and the team at Yass Salvos Store is looking forward to greeting our long-standing customers from the surrounding area as well as welcoming new faces and providing them with a rewarding shopping experience. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers at Yass have been working overtime to get the store ready for this grand opening and I thank them all for their commitment and efforts”, said Matt Davis, National Director of Salvos Stores.

100% of profit, from purchases and donations through Salvos stores, fund The Salvation Army programs for communities, including assistance to homelessness, hunger, domestic violence and general community assistance, on both a local and international level.

Moving forward, Dianne looks forward to continuing the relationship with the Yass community, commenting;

“We hope that the community will be really happy with the new store, and continue to support us like they always have”

Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday during opening hours.
