NBN Local information sessions coming to Yass Valley

Local nbn upgrades to the fibre and fixed wireless networks are now delivering benefits to eligible homes and businesses across the Yass Valley. More than 2,800 premises, primarily connected via Fibre to the Node (FTTN), will soon be able to place an eligible order to upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP). Once completed, the upgrades will include access to full fibre connections for homes and businesses and enhancements to the local Fixed Wireless network as part of the Fixed Wireless Upgrade Program.

Upgrading to full fibre delivers a range of benefits for customers when compared to copper connections, including smoother video calls, enhanced streaming, quicker response times for gaming, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously – including smart TVs, home security systems, and smart home technology.

To upgrade to full fibre, eligible new and existing customers must place an order for an eligible high-speed plan (at least 100 Mbps download) through a participating provider. nbn have also rolled out a significant enhancement to the Fixed Wireless network. With a $750 million investment—$480 million from the Australian Government and $270 million from NBN Co—nbn has brought faster speeds and greater capacity to more than 800,000 homes and businesses across Australia, in locations in Yass Valley this means better connectivity.

Head of nbn Local NSW, Tom O’Dea, said the upgrades deliver a better, and more reliable internet experience for homes and businesses. “Households are consuming more data than ever to the things they love, like streaming 4K on multiple devices, online education, next level gaming, conference calls, and uploading and downloading large files for work,” he said.

“Speeds have been significantly boosted with Fixed Wireless Home Fast now available to about 90 per cent of the expanded Fixed Wireless footprint and is expected to offer peak wholesale speeds of about 200-250/8-20 Mbps”

“These improvements are already making a difference for families, students, and small businesses who need reliable internet for day-to-day operations and future growth.”

To help customers understand and take advantage of the completed and soon to be completed upgrades, the nbn Local team will be visiting. Residents and businesses can come along and have their questions answered and get advice on how to make the most of their home internet setup from the team.
