Sixty Second Swirl Wine of the Week
As the weather warms up, lighter and brighter wines become the order of the day and this week’s swirl certainly fits the bill – the 2019 Murrumbateman Winery Riesling. Winemaker Bob Makin has expertly crafted this ripping little “Rizza” and swirling around the glass the wine is a bright, medium straw colour. Aromas of lemon and grapefruit curd are prominent with a hint of freshly baked shortcrust pastry. Citrus fruit and blossom flavours continue to slide across the tongue, with an inviting zip of zesty acid at the finish. This is just the trick with freshly grilled white-fleshed fish with lemon and caper sauce-$30 at the cellar door.
