The Murrumbateman Recreation Ground Focus Group have decided the first of two options as the location for the Murrumbateman all-abilities playground, with further discussion taking place at their July 30 meeting.
By majority vote, the committee members agreed on location option 1 as the preferred location for the all-abilities playground site within the Murrumbateman Recreation Ground. The playground site is located on the southern sand arena site adjacent to the old horse arenas.
Council had presented the two options below for community consultation to determine the alternate location for the all-abilities playground: Hercules Street (existing playground site) Murrumbateman Recreation Ground (land adjacent to the old horse arenas over the southern sand arena).
Future consideration is to be given to the proposed BMX/Pump track and risk mitigation in regard to access, fencing, gates, traffic and parking.
Council surveyed locals about the location, which took the results into consideration.
Murrumbateman Recreation Ground’s proposed location is on the Southern sand area by the tennis courts, which will have an existing car park, toilet facilities and internal pathways. The site will cater for the original design.
As for 10 Hercules Street, it would have replaced the Anglican Church playground and would already have pedestrian access from the village and Fairley Estate and existing car parking. New toilet facilities and a modification to the original design.
