MA Steel’s Carrie Talks About What it Means to Volunteer at Murrumbateman Field Days

Carrie Wells is a local who has done a ton of volunteering work for the Murrumbateman Field Days over the years and now discusses exhibiting a local business, MA Steel, at the same show.

Carrie said, “My husband and I have lived in Murrumbateman for about 23 years. I used to volunteer for the Field Days, and my husband still does. When we first started my husband was in the Rural Fire Brigade at Murrumbateman and they did the car parking and things like that.

“Then we were involved in the Pre-School as our children went there. They had a food stall in the Rec Hall and we were involved with fundraising with that. We were in the Murrumbateman Scout Group and Cubs for years.

“I work for MA Steel and now work there with them. My husband is now with Back Creek Brigade. With our MA Steel stand at the Field Days we sell our Fair Dinkum Sheds, which is Fair Dinkum Builds. We can quote on the spot and provide pricing for building and erecting of slabs and everything.

“We also have our sheep yard panels and cattle panels and we have a fence set up for people to see a rural fence. This year we are going to have a colour bond fence display. We have loading ramps and all the farm equipment that you need.”

Austral Wire Products will be on the stand with them with the ACT Fencing and Gates Centre. “It’s great for us to be able to support the Field Days.

It’s great for the community and we have been a part of that community for many years. We want to put ourselves out there for people to see us and know we are here for any of their rural, fencing, or farming needs.

“It is a wonderful day out or weekend for people and it’s great for the community. It also provides a lot of jobs for the community.

“It’s great to help out volunteering with community groups. I love it. You get to meet different people and chat to people. It’s a great day and everyone is really happy and excited to be there. We have enjoyed it over the years. It’s been a lot of fun and we have met some amazing community minded people in the Murrumbateman and Yass communities.

“It’s just good fun and everyone should do it. It’s a little bit out of your time but it is really rewarding for the groups and they raise a lot of money for all the different causes” MA Steel will be located at site Y9 & Y10.
