Brent Lello will take the reins at the Murrumbateman Eagles in 2024 as President.
The Murrumbateman Eagles will have a new face leading them into 2024, with Brent Lello taking over as President from the outgoing Andy Ingold. Ingold has guided the Eagles through their footballing resurgence, with his tenure highlighted by back-to-back AFL Canberra Premierships in 2023 and 2024. Ingold was grateful for the opportunity but explained it was time to move on.
“I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported the club for the last six years,” Ingold said in a club statement. “Last night, we held the AGM, and it was my decision not to nominate for President in 2024. “Congratulations to Brent Lello on taking over the role as President, and I know he and the new committee will lead the club to even greater heights. “The past six years have been so exciting leading the club build from the ground up. From many kids coming to Auskick and playing at half time at an AFL game to the senior side training under RFS truck lights in 2019 to then winning back-to-back premierships in ‘22 & ‘23.
“To all past and present committee members, players, coaches, sponsors and supporters, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for coming on board and supporting this great community club – It’s been a bloody good ride.” In what will be a new-look committee, Lello will be charged with taking the club forward and building on a good base. Lello also made a statement, thanking past members and welcoming new members aboard.
“We warmly welcome our two new committee members, in Kylie Hourn and Garry Curran – your energy and enthusiasm and new ideas will be a great asset to our club,” Lello said. “We are privileged to retain the experience of both Andy Ingold and Adam Hill, who remain on the committee for the next year – thanks for your ongoing commitment and support guys. “We also thank outgoing Treasurer and founding committee member – Andrew Baldwin – for his commitment to our club and the support he has provided to help us be the club we are today.
“Thanks again to everyone who is involved with and supports our club – you are all valued members of the Eagles Nest – onwards and upwards, and more great things to come.” The Murrumbateman Football Club is already gearing up for the new season and will be running their next Eagles Kids Clinic community program, commencing Thursday, November 9, at 5:30 – 6:30 pm at the Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds. This is a great opportunity for kids of any age to develop new skills, be active in a supervised and supportive environment, meet new friends and generally have a great time.
The Eagles Kids Clinic will run for four weeks, with their last session on November 30. If you would like your child to participate, then please let Brent Lello know atbrent.lello@gmail.com or on 0439 548 986.
