Berinba Public School opened its gates to families for its first public event since the government-enforced Covid restrictions last year.
In a commendable effort ensuring registration and hand sanitisation upon entry, the children and families were then free to mingle. Squeals of delight filled the school grounds as inflatable games, and a mechanical bucking ball invited children to bravely test their rodeo skills, jump, slide, and climb.

The Furphy family enjoyed their second ‘Welcome to Berinba BBQ and Fun Day,’ coming to the school in 2020. Soon after, classrooms across the nation were emptied due to Covid.
“The kids love it. They’ve been so excited about all the inflatables. They didn’t want to leave last year,” said Rebecca Furphy.
“Parents get to see their kid’s school and their classroom, and the kids love showing them to them,” said Sam Furphy.
“Meeting their teachers is nice too” added Rebecca.
“We haven’t been able to see the inside of the school. Raphael started kindergarten last year, and we couldn’t go past the gate all year, so it’s good to see where they go all day,” said Sam.
Jean Pearson, President of Berinba Public’s P&C since 2019, said it was terrific to welcome families back into the school.
“It gives our families a chance to meet each other and their children’s teachers and meet the P&C too. The kids love it and look forward to it. It is so nice to see families back in the school.”
