Located in the heart of Yass, B & G Plumbing and Electrical is a cornerstone of the local community. Established in 1986, the business has a rich history that dates back to when Yass locals Brian Kemp and Graham Bush purchased ‘Noel Smith’s Plumbing Supplies,’ giving birth to what was then known as B & G Plumbing and Hardware.
Today, under the leadership of Stephen Sutton (pictured above), a local with a successful career in plumbing and electrical wholesale, the store continues to thrive while maintaining its family-owned spirit and commitment to serving Yass.
Stephen took ownership of the store in 2023, and added Electrical to the business name, to reflect its evolving focus, but still honouring the legacy of founders Brian and Graham.
His extensive experience has allowed the store to expand its offerings, providing plumbing and electrical supplies, including wood and electrical heating, cooling solutions, water pumps, filtration, and pump repair services. The store is also the sole Elgas supplier for Yass and the surrounding region.
Stephen says being a Davey Black Master Dealer aligns perfectly with the needs of the Yass region. “Davey products are in high demand here. We have a large number of rural properties and a long history of water quality concerns in the area, so Davey’s trusted and reliable water solutions have been a natural fit for the community,” Stephen says.
“The store has always been known for its extensive range of Davey products, with the Davey HS60-08T household pump being one of our top sellers over the past two years due to its affordability and reliability.”
Stephen says that when he took over, the decision to continue the partnership with Davey was clear.
“The Davey brand name is synonymous with pumps, people often come in referring to all pumps as ‘a Davey’, and we love selling Davey products because they are reliable, easy to order, and come in a wide range of options. Being associated with such a reputable brand adds great value to our business.”
