Yass Valley Community late night shopping and Christmas parade

Registrations have opened for the Yass Valley late night shopping, markets, and Christmas parade on Comur Street, Yass on 14 December for the Yass Valley Community late night shopping and Christmas parade.

Director Corporate and Community, Lynette Safranek is calling on the community to get involved by registering to participate in the community parade or to hold a market stall. “The parade and markets are one of the biggest events of the year for Yass Valley, it is a fantastic way to bring our community together and encourage them to shop locally and support our small businesses this Christmas,” she said. “All Community Groups and organisations, emergency services, businesses, schools, and individuals from across Yass Valley are invited to participate.”

Another Christmas late night shopping markets event will take place on Thursday, 21 December 2023. The annual Christmas Parade brings people into Yass from all over Canberra and even as far as Wagga which compliments the Parade providing a unique opportunity for locals to promote their local business and continue to support the community.

There’s always something special on at the Yass Christmas Markets with last year seeing Jamie Duncan and Tracey Beadman’s incredible feat of raising more than $11,000 with their shave to raise money for the SPIN Foundation. Yass Council are looking for a band, musicians or solo artists to lead the community Christmas parade this year. If this is something that you or your group would be interested in, you can reach out to Council’s event coordinator Robyn Zwar at rzwar@yass.nsw.gov.au.

They are also looking for community volunteers and community groups to assist with the planning of the event as well as set up and pack down on the day. If you or your group would like to volunteer your time, please email Lynette Safranek at lsafranek@yass.nsw.gov.au.
