Yass Roos In Grand Final

Yass Roos – Jacob Negri.

Following a very good 85-42 win over the Southern Cats in a qualifying final on September 19th, the Yass Roos now find themselves in a Grand Final confrontation with the undefeated ANU Griffins next Saturday October 3rd. at 12:30pm.

Spokesman Adam Curtois stated; “Yeah, we are good to go, but the AFL still has to announce where the game must be played”. The Roos actually finished the regular 2020 season level with the Cats but a slight differential between the two sides forced last Saturday’s semi-final.

“We finished up pretty well this season compared with the wooden spoon we copped last year” Curtois added. “We do have a few lingering injuries but otherwise we are all pretty good to go, the score line says we nailed the Cats pretty well and Jacob Negri was best on ground, next Saturday will be different!”

Yass Roos have a for of 521 against the Griffins of 527, just one goal ahead. It is a similar position in points conceded of 221 against for ANU and 237 by Yass. As well, the Roos have 3 players in the top ten goal scorers for this season, Winnel, O’Brien and Davey.

Nevertheless, the Roos will need to keep a lid on Tim Robb from ANU with 12 goals for 2020, Kerl Warrener with 9 and Ryan Mannes with 7. Grand Finals are difficult animals and it could be anyone’s game on the day, statistics don’t play for you.

“We need to be confident and put our best foot forward for this game and I think we can do it”, Curtois added. The Roos have been good throughout 2020 in spite of Covid and must have an excellent chance against the ANU Griffins.
