The Yass Redbacks Football Club held their Annual General Meeting last week, in what the Club described as a successful event.
At the meeting the Club confirmed their new committee for 2023 as well as their exciting plans for the upcoming season.
The Yass Football Club 2023 committee will include Edward Alley as President, Katherine MacDonald as Treasurer and Bec Murray as Secretary.
Bec Murray, the Yass Redbacks new secretary, spoke to the Times following their AGM.
“We were able to form a committee, which was fantastic. We’re looking forward to the 2023 season,” Murray said.
“We’ve got three executives which are our president, treasurer and secretary, as well as filling all other positions within the committee.”
2023 was a good season for the Club, with all four of Yass’ State League sides, including the men’s Division 2 and Division 2 reserves, and the women’s division 4 and 6 sides.
“We were all very happy with how the season went, with not much disruption with Covid this year which was great, aside from the weather issues,” Murray continued.
“Everyone that we’ve spoken to has thoroughly enjoyed the year and a lot of people are looking forward to next season as well.”
Murray admitted that the board has already been in talks about what 2023 has in store but it is too early to announce to the public at this stage.
“We’ve got some exciting new ideas that we’ve got to put through the committee, but we haven’t discussed them as a whole or had them approved just yet. But watch this space, it should be a good season next year.”
Murray also touched on the announcement of the disappointing cancellation of the Summer Season.
“Of course we were disappointed that the summer season wasn’t able to go ahead. But in hindsight, looking at the weather, I think we were going to be cancelling a lot of the games anyway due to field closures.
“We’ve spoken to everyone that was interested and obviously offered them refunds, or they can use their vouchers for registration in the new season, which a lot of people are going to do.”
The whole town is looking forward to what the Yass Redbacks has to offer in 2023.
