Wine of the week – all roads lead to…

The team at Eden Road have been smashing out fantastic wines for over fourteen years from their winery in Murrumbateman.  Eden Road wines are carefully crafted, and the team wave their magic winemaking wand to give each bottle a real sense of time and place. This week’s swirl is the Eden Road “The Long Road” Syrah 2018. I like the fact that this is called “Syrah” rather than the traditional moniker of “Shiraz”, stepping the cool climate style of this variety apart from its warmer climate cousins. The swirl reveals beguiling aromas of a spicy fruit compote of dark berries and black cherries with spicy undertones of cloves, white pepper and star anise. On the palate, the wine has a silky-smooth texture, with the spiced dark cherry flavours swirling around the mouth. This is a delicious drop and great value at $25 at the cellar door or online.
