I’m a 25-year-old journalist who has predominately been working across the mastheads of the Twin Town Times, Cootamundra Times and the Junee Independent, however, from 2023 onwards I will be working on the Yass Valley Times in a full-time capacity, continuing on my work from the back half of 2022.

I’ve loved interacting with local residents and getting to know Yass, whether it be local council politics, sports, recognising individual achievements, and even sharing heartbreaking stories.

Hailing from the nation’s capital, I’m a proud born and bred Canberran, however, have immersed myself by writing about Yass and am hoping to establish myself further in the community.

I graduated from the University of Canberra in 2019 with a Bachelor of Communication and Media Degree, majoring in Sports Journalism.

Although specialising in sports media, storytelling of all forms is something I’ve been extremely passionate about from a young age.

My experience in professional newsrooms ranges from internships at The Canberra Times and ABC Radio, where I’ve covered stories ranging from local sports, the AFL and NRL, and international championships.

While my writing portfolio is an area I’m incredibly proud of, I also thrive in video production and editing.

I’ve worked on the media production team at Fox Sports Australia covering international T20 Cricket between Australia and Pakistan while continuing to live-stream local first-grade sport as a cameraman on the weekends.

Since 2018, I’ve been a sports reporter for Baseball Australia covering the Australian Baseball League, where I’ve produced match reports, attended press conferences, and controlled the various social media channels.

During my last year of university, I travelled to Europe on a faculty-led sports management and media tour, where we completed demanding university courses in Madrid and London, while visiting international sports federations in Switzerland.

Interviewing people and transferring their words onto paper is something I love doing and I can’t wait to tell more local stories.

I’m looking forward to getting out in Yass more in 2023 and sharing the stories that matter to you, the locals.

If you see me around town, please don’t hesitate to come up and say hello, or contact me on 0401 925 306 or email me at tim@thetimes.net.au if you have a potential story or lead.
