Truck crash at Bowning this morning

Just before 5.30am on Tuesday July 5, emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Bowning, following reports of a truck rollover.

Police have been told the B-double was travelling north when it veered off the side of the road and struck an unattended parked vehicle, about 200 metres south of Common Road. While the car was unoccupied, it sustained significant damage.

The truck then rolled onto its side, before coming to a rest in a culvert.

The male driver was able to free himself and suffered minor injuries but was taken to Canberra Hospital as a precaution.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As of 11:20am lane one northbound remains closed and traffic diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to visit www.livetraffic.com before travelling.
