This Sunday on the 18th of September at 2-3:30 PM, a Child Trafficking Prevention Information session with Destiny Rescue and Six8 Coffee will be held at Trader & Co Café in Yass. It will be a free, family and child-friendly event; however, due to the nature of the subject matter, parental discretion is advised for younger children. A light afternoon tea will be provided.
“Six8 Coffee Roasters was birthed out of a passion for people, and a vision for coffee to be a tool for empowerment. We saw many great injustices whilst traversing through different countries, and realised that we could be a part of the answer, and that coffee could be the tool,” business owners Daniel and Toni Neuhaus said.
“We give $1 from every kg of coffee and 10c from every cup of coffee that we sell, to organisations who are actively working to fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery. They are working with communities to empower them through education, training and employment options, small business and social change,” they said.
As a Christian business, this is just one way Six8 Coffee practices their motto and mission, to ‘Act Justly, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly’ (Micah 6:8).
The Community Information Session will be about child trafficking, and the work Destiny Rescue is doing to rescue trafficked children and to help them to stay free and thrive.
“Our rescue agents and caseworkers operate in over 10 countries around the world. The team of 250+ volunteers and staff work relentlessly to rescue kids and help them stay free,” Destiny Rescue explains.
“It is shocking to imagine that right now, a young child is being exploited, sold, and abused. If we don’t get to him or her, someone else will, and that horror story will continue to play night after night.”
Destiny Rescue focuses on three key areas of supporting trafficked children: rescue, reintegration, and prevention.
Night after night, highly-trained rescue agents enter some of the darkest places on the planet to find children trapped in sexual exploitation or trafficking.
Destiny Rescue identifies what left a child vulnerable to exploitation and helps them and their family to overcome these barriers and thrive.
Destiny Rescue teaches vulnerable communities how to protect themselves against traffickers.
“Breaking the cycle of exploitation is vital to our mission,” they said.
