Sixty Second Swirl
Nestled among a Stringy Bark forest in the Mundoonen Ranges just north of Murrumbateman, sits Fiona and Neil’s Yarrh Wines.
They crank out wines that speak loudly of the earth, the vines and the grapes themselves.
This week’s “swirl” – the Yarrh Riesling 2019 – does indeed speak truly of Yarrh’s unique location, the Riesling variety as well as the vintage.
The wine is pale straw in colour with flashes of green. A swirl reveals aromas of ripe and juicy lemons and freshly grated zest along with a hint of citrus blossom.
This “Rizza” is refreshing and lively in the mouth with citrus flavours and a zippy finish of nicely balanced acid.
This Riesling would go very well with a plate piled high with fresh shellfish and it did go well with my XO chilli chicken.
An excellent example of why this region is “Get-In” for Riesling.
Available at the Cellar Door-$28 or online.
