Sixty Second Swirl – Wine of the Week

Marina and John Sekoranja from McKellar Ridge with their 5 star Halliday rating vintage

This week’s taste test is the 2018 McKellar Ridge Shiraz Viognier, crafted by John and Marina Sekoranja at their winery in Murrumbateman. This elegant blend is broodingly deep in colour. The aroma is amazingly fragrant with wafts of deeply dark cherries and blackberries with hints of pepper and star anise providing a spicy back scene. The palate is rich, smooth and lingering with dark berry fruit flavours, a lovely lick of acid and a dapper touch of tannin. This wine is prime time and destined to be enjoyed with a slow-roasted lamb shoulder—$ 50 at the cellar door.
