This Sunday from 12 pm until 6 pm, Scott Eulenstein from Spinifex Tennis is calling tennis players of all ages and abilities across the Yass Valley to grab a tennis racket and jump on the court, to support Menslink’s‘ Great Walk’ fundraising.

“I’ve been nominated for the Menslink Centenary Walk, which is raising money to fund educators and mentors who go into schools and work with young guys who may be disadvantaged or lack family support. It’s empowering them to have the right parameters in place to enter the workforce and really support those families as well,” said Scott.

“I’m busily fundraising and I’ve got a tennis event coming up in Yass on Sunday the 9th of October. That’s aimed at getting as many families out on the court as possible and having some fun, playing some tennis at the Hume Tennis Club in Yass,” he said.

On the day will be a free Barbecue and prizes and raffles available to all players. Players can nominate to play a round-robin social doubles competition in the following events:

Section 1 (competitive). Cost $25

Section 2 (just for fun). Cost $25

Juniors 15 and under. Cost $15

Juniors 10 and under, Cost $15

Players can Nominate a doubles partner of their choice.

Scott has a fundraising page where people can easily go online and support his walk through a general donation. Business organisations can also set him a target to reach for fundraising purposes.

Scott will be walking from the 1st to the 5th of November, embarking on the Canberra Centenary Trail. It’s a 145km walk which he will be undertaking with a group of 28 business owners. The group will complete a certain distance each day.

“I think Menslink is a great organisation that supports young families. Being a father of two boys, I feel it’s an important initiative to foster young families within the Canberra and regional community. Menslink do a fantastic job sending staff into these facilities to really assist. It’s a very worthy initiative, and I’m looking forward to supporting it moving forward,” said Scott.

Scott lives in Canberra but runs his tennis coaching business, Spinifex Tennis, in both Yass and Murrumbateman. Nominated by the Menslink board, this is Scott’s first fundraiser.

He explained that the walk is generally supported by Canberra-based businesses, but the feedback was that regional Canberra hasn’t always been represented. Involving Scott and his Yass-based business was a good chance to streamline into the regional areas. Because many Yass Valley families either travel, work or go to school in the ACT, many families have benefited from the Menslink organisation, so the fundraiser is highly relevant.
