A message from our host, Murrumbateman Progress Association President, Greg Weekes OAM

MPA President Greg Weekes OAM

Welcome to Murrumbateman and to the 2022 Field Days brought to you by the Murrumbateman Progress Association (MPA) Inc. MPA is a voluntary, not-for-profit community-based association that has been improving community services for Murrumbateman residents for 88 years.
MPA is the umbrella organisation for a number of local initiatives and events, such as the Murrumbateman Field Days, the Australian Cool Climate Wine Show, the Menshed, the History Group, the Murrumbateman
Village Markets and the local Christmas Carols. In addition, MPA also acts as a representative body to foster local issues with local, state and federal governments.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME A MEMBER OF MURRUMBATEMAN
PROGRESS ASSOCIATION?
Become involved in the running of MPA and its activities. We invite community members to join MPA, enabling the association to continue
the work it has done in the past. Annual membership is $20 per person
and meetings are held bi-monthly.

Through the Field Days our major annual event, MPA assists
many local community groups by opening avenues for them to achieve their annual financial support goals After cancellations in 2020 and 2021, this event is the 42nd anniversary of the Field Days which started in 1979
with 27 exhibitors displaying rural and farming products suitable for regional landowners. Today’s Field Days host over 300 exhibitors and
approx. 20,000 visitors and is the largest annual event in the Yass Valley. Apart from exhibitors, nearly everyone you see working to support the running of Field Days is a volunteer and the successful planning and execution of such an event would not be possible without them. To all of our volunteers, a big “Thank You” is most deserved.
To our visitors, please enjoy all that we have arranged for you and your families to see and experience this year – may you travel safely back
to your homes. To our exhibitors, we know that many of you have been touched by recent disasters and we hope that your attendance here has
again been worthwhile and look forward to welcoming you back in 2023.
While times have changed from its early days as a gold mining site to a region that has grown significantly over the past decade, Murrumbateman
is now the heart of Canberra’s cool climate wine growing area and has much to offer visitors and its many new residents. MPA is proud to stage its annual Field Days which reinforces our “Vision” for a vibrant and sustainable Murrumbateman and its regional community.
