Chair of NSW Farmers Yass Branch Carolina Merriman was recently announced as a winner of an NSW Rural Women’s Scholarship for Future Women.
The scholarship is the product of a partnership between Future Women and the Office of Minister for Women and aims to provide premium leadership development opportunities across a 12-month program.
Carolina was one of twelve women selected for the scholarship and was full of excitement discussing the achievement.
“Really excited, absolutely over the moon, and so grateful that I was able to be selected,” she said.
Carolina hopes that this scholarship will provide her with the opportunity and platform to work towards one of her life passions.
“I’m really hoping to make a difference and to give women a voice in rural and remote regions, and for them to be able to take on more leadership roles in the agricultural industry,” she said.
Women’s leadership in the agricultural industry and women’s safety in regional areas are the two main points Carolina would like to address throughout her time in the program.
If you see Carolina around town, make sure to congratulate her on what is an outstanding achievement and a positive reflection of the growing number of women in leadership in the Yass Valley.
