Markets make the Yass riverside hum

A glorious Yass summer’s day led to yet another successful Riverbank Market recently.

In what was a diverse showcase of all the Yass Valley has to offer, organiser of the markets Andrew Hennell was thrilled with the turnout and response from the community.

“We had huge numbers here.”

“Weather’s beautiful, there’s more than 50 stalls here and everyone’s selling well.”

“It’s been a great day,” he said.

As for what makes the Riverbank Markets special, Hennell said it’s the opportunity for locals to offer their product to a wider range of people.

“Nearly half our stalls are locals or Yass Valley businesses.”

“It’s just great for the town, to bring people into Yass,” he said.

One of these locals is Kim Delevere, who runs Bowning Tea Co and spoke to the opportunity the market provides her business.

“There’s been a lot of people here who have seen me on Instagram and Facebook, locals who have come specifically for me.”

“I think it’s wonderful,” she said buzzingly.

Owner of the Canberra-based Cornerstone Creative, Chelsea Lolesio was impressed with the day and declared her stall would be returning for the next market.

“It’s been awesome, it’s such a lovely layout.”

“Everyone’s been buying, I’ve been really enjoying it,” she said.

The market also provides an opportunity for Yass’ sporting clubs to get involved and raise funds and attract players.
