Live-streaming of world premiere concert – Yass Valley’s own Leanne Bear – “Nôtre Gothique”

Put on your expensive perfume or don your tux…whatever puts you in the mood for a spectacular “afternoon in” of exceptional music from Yass Valley’s very own composer Leanne Bear performed by musical ensemble Plexus in their Psalmodic concert about to be live-streamed from the Melbourne Recital Centre.

The live stream starts very soon at 1 pm today and the recording is of the live world-premier performance at MRC from June 24, 2019. The first 15 minutes of the concert is a piece composed by Leanne Bear, and performed by Plexus trio: Monica Curro violin, Phillip Arkinstall clarinet, and Stefan Cassomenos piano.

Composer Leanne Bear describes how her creative process first sparked “When commissioned by Plexus to write a piece for their Melbourne Recital Centre series, I immediately thought of Paris because it seemed to fit with the unique combination of clarinet violin and piano. I’d promised a memorial piece for Paris after being there the day after the bombing, but the piece took on a very distinct shape while I was writing when the news broke of  Nôtre Dame burning! Hence the title “Nôtre Gothique.”
“The piece has references to early music from the time of the cathedral’s building but is full of quirky bits as well- like the diabolical gargoyle dance, and a soulful clarinet solo” – Composer Leanne Bear.
