Letter To The Editor from Wendy Tuckerman

CHRISTMAS FELICITATIONS

2021 has again been a year of highs and lows. The COVID pandemic has certainly been a challenge. Every single person has been affected in some way, whether it be isolation from family, school closures, business and work interruptions, illness, and the cancellation of so many wonderful events just to name a few.

We have also continued to deal with the challenges of rebuilding some of our communities from the harrowing 2019/2020 bushfires. We have not forgotten the impacts of this disaster nor those that suffered loss. More recently El Nina has provided the rain we so desperately needed a couple of years ago, however, the rain presented other impacts with major flooding and significant damage to some areas.

Throughout it all, I have felt reassured and safe in knowing we have the best in expert advice as well as an emergency service team completely dedicated and selfless in their service to our community, during what has been the toughest of times and conditions, I cannot thank them enough.

That being said, as we come to the end of 2021 and return to some normality, I look around the Goulburn electorate and I can see paddocks full of green grass and dam water levels at an all-time high.

I see major infrastructure projects coming to life such as the opening of the Goulburn Base Hospital’s Clinical Services Building, the completion and opening of the new Ambulance Stations in both Goulburn and Yass, the approval of the new Murrumbateman Primary School. I see new amenities for sporting communities and an unprecedented amount of grant funding allocated to so many worthwhile projects in the electorate.

There is excitement in the air!

I am so proud to represent and to be a part of our spirited communities across the electorate, not only for its resilience and comradery but the unwavering determination to get through it and to get on with it.

I would like to wish you all the joy of spending time with friends and family, some rest and peace of mind, and a safe and happy Christmas.

May 2022 be happy, healthy, and prosperous for all.
