High Tea at Cooma Cottage

Yass’ Cooma Cottage will be hosting their al fresco High Tea next Wednesday, 25 October, at 756 Yass Valley Way.

The high tea will commence at 11:00am and run until 1:00pm, with tickets costing $50 per person, which can be purchased through Eventbrite.

Attendees can take pleasure in the beauty of the Yass Valley as spring continues to blossom in the Cooma Cottage gardens and they are set to enjoy live acoustic music, a scrumptious high tea served under the shade of the historic picconia tree, and guided house tours.

Barbara Foster, lead volunteer at Cooma Cottage encouraged the community to come out and support the event next week.

“The high tea is an event to support Cooma Cottage. We’re hoping that a lot of local people will come along,” Foster said.

“There will be gourmet sandwiches from local cafe Thyme to Taste, pastries and lovely, delicious goodies from Clementine. There will also be scones and the usual Devonshire tea.

“We’ve also got an acoustic musician who will be playing in the background.

“We’re hoping that everyone will have a lovely, enjoyable day under the famous picconia tree we’ve got out there, served with vintage crockery, real tea, and real coffee.

“We’ll have a plan B if the weather’s not good for us, we will take it inside. I don’t want people to be concerned if the weather’s not good. Looking ahead, it looks like it might be alright, so we’re hoping that everyone will come along and just have a wonderful time together.

“If people have problems purchasing tickets through Eventbrite, I don’t mind if they contact us at Cooma Cottage or they can drop in this Sunday to make a booking and pay on site.”

Foster said she and the Cooma Cottage team are expecting a good turnout for their high tea event next Wednesday.

“We’ve capped the event at 40 people, which is a nice and comfortable number for people to be able to enjoy themselves and walk around. They can also inspect the cottage, which is included in the price as well,” Foster continued.

“On the day, the volunteers will be serving and will be available for any questions people may have about the cottage.

“Cooma Cottage is a National Trust property, and of course, things need maintaining all the time. We hold events to raise money to help with that.

“This is an event that we hope to make a biannual event, with a spring high tea and an early autumn high tea. This will be the first of many to come.”

Tickets can be purchased at cooma-high-tea.eventbrite.com.au and enquiries can be made to coomacottage@nationaltrust.com.au. Bookings are essential.
