Sixty Second Swirl
Gallagher Wines, located at the Jeir end of Murrumbateman, is a quality operation.
Greg and daughter Lauren take care of wine-related duties while Libby sets about the cheesemaking chores – it’s a fantastic combination that delivers a great experience whenever you turn up to their Cellar Door.
The Gallagher stable of wines includes some of the region’s best sparkling wines and a range of cool-climate classics including Riesling, Shiraz and Merlot. For our ‘swirl’ this week though, we take a look at the Gallagher Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2021.
This ‘savvy’ Blanc is a pale gold straw colour in the glass with flashes of white gold. A swirl reveals vibrant tropical and exotic fruit aromas including ripe melon, mangosteen and lychee with a pinch of passion fruit pulp.
The palate is crisp yet both succulent and luscious with ripe tropical fruit flavours with a tantalising slate-like savouriness. This is an enjoyably delicious drop.
We enjoyed our bottle with sweet chilli marinated char-grilled whole chicken and it was a superb match, but you could serve it with any fresh seafood or chicken-based salad dish.
I bought mine from the Murrumbateman IGA, but you can also buy it at ‘Thyme to Taste’ in Yass or for $30 online.
