Binalong local and owner of local business “Get First Aid”, Ryan Deale, is registered as a candidate for the upcoming Yass Valley Council elections.
“So many people go into Council wanting to change the world, I’m just wanting to ensure that people’s voices are actually being heard,” said Ryan.
Supporting the community was what Ryan said his focus will be, and that’s the entire Yass Valley and not just his local area.
“I’m running for Councillor to provide better support for the community.” “Even though I’m based in Binalong, because I run a business in the Yass Valley I’m already connected to a lot of organisations within the Yass Valley.”
“I’m a part of the Yass Valley Business Chamber, I shop in Yass Valley, so I’m always in the community,” he said.
Speaking on his relationship with the Yass Valley Business Chamber, Ryan said he believes the Business Chamber plays an important role in the future economic prosperity of the Yass Valley.
“I’ve certainly spoken to the Yass Valley Business Chamber, they do have policies and procedures and some pretty important strategies in relation to how they want to see the Yass Valley develop over the next 5-10 years, and I think it’s very important no matter who goes into Council, they really need to start listening to the business community and find out how Council can properly support the small businesses,” he said.
As for what ignited his desire to be a Councillor, Ryan said it was the impact of Covid-19 on the small businesses of the region.
“Obviously Covid has hurt a lot of communities in and around Australia, so I believe going into Council will give me an opportunity to support the community as they recover from Covid.”
“I do have quite a few things I hope to be able to achieve by going into Council, and one of those is economic recovery for local and small businesses in the region and that will also contribute to providing economic growth which is more jobs, and also provide support to other community organisations including non-for-profits.”
Ryan can be contacted at the “Ryan Deale for Yass Valley” Facebook page, and you’ll no doubt be hearing from him more over the course of the next few months.
