COVID-19 UPDATE – 11/09/21 ?
Yass Valley Council has notified residents via social media of the following.
NSW Health’s ongoing sewage surveillance program has detected fragments of the COVID-19 virus in a sample taken from the Yass Sewage Treatment Plant on Tuesday, 7 September. The catchment area includes the township of Yass and Yass Service Centre.
This follows notification on Monday, 6 September of two venues of concern in Yass:
– IGA Yass (63 Laidlaw Street, Yass) – 4-4.30pm on 2.09.21
– Caltex Yass (1716 Yass Valley Way, Yass) – 4.15-4.45pm on 4.09.21
Anyone who attended the venues of concern at the times listed is considered a close contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
Anyone in the Yass community with even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms is also urged to come forward for testing following the detection of fragments of the virus in the local sewage system.
The drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic is open at Walker Park, Yass from Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm.
We expect the results from a sewage sample taken on Thursday, 9 September early next week.
We have not been notified of any changes to the current restrictions or of any positive cases in the Yass Valley.
